Independence!
The last few weeks have been the turning point in my students showing their independence in using the iPads for more than specific apps and practice of skills. In the middle of October I endeavored to teach some of my "higher" students to research and collect information and then use that information to create. My higher students researched a community helper, wrote facts about the community helper, and then wrote a book on the community helper. After my high group finished their books they presented and became experts to help others with this project a few weeks later. This research, collection, and creation process was used for learning about community helpers, animals, Pilgrims, Indians, and turkeys. My students are now able to collect information and use that information to create and teach others. I love that they are beginning to take ownership of their own learning!
